It may be a "small world after all," but the Earth contains about 7 billion people, with half of them packed densely together in urban areas. China and India alone have 36% of the world's population, and the world's population is still growing at a rate of 1.22% per year. As top predators, humans consume lots or resources, many of them nonrenewable, which puts considerable strain on the environment.

The Debate Around Young Trustee's
The debate around young Trustee's has really gained some momentum and heat in recent years. This is partly due to government encouraging initiatives that promote participation from an apathetic and disengaged generation, but also, partly down to charities wanting to improve their internal governance. Is that the only valid reason?

In the Anoka-Hennepin school district in Minnesota (coincidentally also the district that Tea Partier Michelle Bachmann represents), nine students have committed suicide in the past two years. Out of those nine, four were openly gay and the rest were constantly bullied. Other teens that have been targeted by bullies are refusing to stand up to it, though. In late July, five students sued the district for allowing schools to be hostile environments for the young LGBT community.
Youth Activism: Fighting the Apathy Myth
There are lots of myths floating around these days that people have to work hard to dispel. The one that bugs me the most? The one claiming that young people are apathetic.
