Scientists Say Carbon Dioxide Does Not Cause Global Warming

The Great Global Warming Swindle, a documentary that can be viewed on YouTube, boasts a compelling assertion: carbon dioxide does not cause global warming. This documentary stands in direct contrast to Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth, an internationally influential documentary explaining man-made global warming and the grim future of the Earth.

In Swindle, a plethora of international scientists and credible sources, including a University of Virginia professor and a co-founder of Greenpeace, explain the origin of the theory of man-made global warming, how it gained momentum, and the scientific facts behind global temperatures.

This documentary credits the sun, not carbon dioxide, for climate change. Al Gore said that more carbon dioxide leads to warmer temperatures. According to this theory, this would mean periods of increased industrialization should have higher temperatures. According to Swindle, however, the opposite happens. Temperatures rose significantly before the industrial age and post-war economic boom of mid twentieth century. They fell from 1940 to 1970 – peak times of industrialization. In 1975, after an economic recession (resulting in decreased manufacturing), they rose. Swindle claims that there is, in fact, an 800-year gap between increased temperature and carbon dioxide, varying according to temperature. There is a correlation between solar activity and Earth's temperatures. Swindle explains that the amount of cloud cover also determines temperature. Clouds form from water vapor and subatomic particles bombarding Earth from exploding supernovae galaxies away. When solar activity is stronger, it overpowers the cosmic rays, lessening the amount of subatomic particles bombarding Earth, lessening the amount of clouds. So a stronger sun means fewer clouds, and clouds make it cooler.

Most people today view carbon dioxide as a widespread pollutant produced by humans. In reality, it makes up .054% of atmospheric gases. Carbon dioxide is far from a pollutant – it is vital for life – we have it in our bodies. In addition, according to Swindle, volcanoes produce more carbon dioxide than factories, cars, planes, and other industrial, man-made sources combined.

Futhermore, the documentary states that the Earth has endured natural warm periods before. The Medieval warm period had warmer temperatures than today, which actually resulted in wealth for Europe, the building of magnificent cathedrals, and thriving vineyards in England. Before that, the Holocene Maximum was warm period lasting 3 millennia. During this time, the polar bears didn't die off, so why should they now?

It is extremely rare socially and unpopular politically to assert that global warming doesn't exist. Swindle states that the environmental movement is incredibly powerful because it's become a political activist movement and that the media is to blame for widespread pandemonium and panic. Nowadays, climate scientists need to present a problem to get funding for research, so they use global warming as the reason to study a phenomenon. In addition, some believe the environmental movement is a Western movement aimed at preventing developing nations from developing.

The theory of man-made global warming took off with 20th century British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, who apparently persuaded scientists with money to prove the theory because she didn't trust Middle Eastern oil and British coal miners were on strike. And now thousands of jobs around the world depend on reducing carbon dioxide to "save the Earth." For more insight, watch The Great Global Warming Swindle, the full-length documentary on YouTube.
